Within the framework of the ParaSwInclusion project, we are proud to announce the organization of the regional swimming competition Sarajevo Open 2026, which will take place from 22 to 24 May 2026 in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
ParaSwInclusion promotes full social inclusion of persons with disabilities through sport, specifically swimming. The core principle of the project is that sport eliminates barriers and enables persons with and without disabilities to compete together, equally and without discrimination.
Sarajevo Open is designed as a fully inclusive competition. Participants are not categorized based on disability, but according to swimming times, emphasizing performance, effort and sporting achievement rather than physical differences. All competitors share the same pool, the same rules and the same values, creating a unique and progressive competition model. The competition brings together children and adults with disabilities, professional para swimmers, recreational athletes, swimmers without disabilities, coaches, referees and sports institutions.
In sport, we are all equal — we all swim in the same pool.
Participants and interested institutions can download the official flyer with detailed information, as well as the competition regulations outlining the swimming disciplines and sport classes.
We warmly invite clubs, athletes and partners to register and become part of this inclusive sporting event that celebrates performance, respect and shared values.
