About the Project

The ParaSwInclusion project is dedicated to promoting the social inclusion and integration of people with disabilities through the sport of paraswimming. By organizing the regional competition Sarajevo Open and developing an innovative e-platform, the project aims to improve access to essential data, educational resources, and training opportunities. Its primary focus lies in the education and empowerment of paraswimmers, coaches, referees, and educators across the Western Balkan countries—Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, and Croatia—fostering a more inclusive and supportive sports environment.
Regional Collaboration and Research
Beyond the competitive scope of Sarajevo Open, the project also focuses on conducting detailed research and establishing essential infrastructure. This includes creating a register of paraswimmers in Croatia and Serbia, and carrying out a comprehensive analysis of the paraswimming landscape in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. These efforts will support the development of a regional e-platform that enhances information accessibility and ensures equal opportunities for all stakeholders involved in paraolympic sports.

Objectives and Impact

This initiative not only seeks to increase participation in paralympic sports, but also strives to improve the overall quality of paraswimming education by introducing new training programs and enhancing sports facilities. Through strategic collaboration and knowledge-sharing, the project contributes to breaking down social prejudices and barriers, raising awareness, and building a more inclusive society. The ParaSwInclusion project serves as a sustainable foundation for long-term development, offering paraswimmers a clearer path toward achieving their full potential.
Partners and Leadership
The ParaSwInclusion project is led by the Paralympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a dedicated organization established in 1995 to promote sports and social reintegration for people with disabilities. Over the years, the Committee has played a pivotal role in supporting athletes to reach international success, including participation in the Paralympic Games. Key project partners include VI, the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education of the University of Niš, the Croatian Paraswimming Federation, Swimming Club SPID, FASTO, MAKO, and BRAVO—each contributing valuable expertise and resources to the project’s success.
