The ParaSwInclusion project focuses on promoting the social inclusion of people with disabilities through paraswimming, with a strong emphasis on education for paraswimmers, coaches, referees, and educators in the Western Balkan countries.

Aim of ParaSwInclusion

The ParaSwInclusion project promotes the social inclusion and integration of people with disabilities through paraswimming by organizing the regional competition Sarajevo Open and developing an innovative e-platform to ensure better access to data and resources. By focusing on the education of all key participants in paraswimming—such as paraswimmers, coaches, referees, and educators—the project creates a sustainable pathway for paraswimmers across the Western Balkan countries, including Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, and Croatia.

The project not only increases the participation of people with disabilities in paralympic sports but also improves education in paraswimming, including the development of better training programs and facilities. Through collaboration and knowledge-sharing, the project raises awareness about the inclusion of people with disabilities, breaks down social barriers and prejudices, and contributes to the social acceptance of individuals with disabilities in society.

In addition to the competitive aspect of the Sarajevo Open, the project facilitates the creation of a register for paraswimmers in Croatia and Serbia, and conducts an in-depth analysis of the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. This research lays the groundwork for the development of an e-platform that makes vital information and resources more accessible. Furthermore, the project includes professional development opportunities for professors, trainers, and referees from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro through training programs in Serbia and Croatia, ensuring that all stakeholders are well-prepared to work effectively with people with disabilities in paralympic sports.
